Com o novo modelo, bastava tirar o telefone do gancho para a telefonista atender. The Companhia Telephonica Brasileira said goodbye to hand cranked phones after a fire at the headquarters in 1906. The fire interrupted telephone services in the city for seven months. After rebuilding the headquarters, new telephone sets, imported from the United States, replaced the old ones.
