Nerves are stretched to their limit, with various groups becoming very radical. There was on the government’s part and that of the unions, an effort to open up to the popular levels, all at once, the access doors to the fruit of the still incipient process of growth, by means of salary increases, unsustainable from the viewpoint of economic reality. Brazilian society is split. Startled by the force of social pressure the middle classes take to the streets in protest against the government, and with this supplying the political basis for the military to decide the crisis by strength, interrupting Jango’s government by a coup d’etat, a new chapter begins. Leaders decide to create Abinee It is within this context of crisis, with an eye on the political and economic hurricane, that a group of businessmen from the electro electronic sector, under the leadership of Manoel da Costa Santos, decide to create a new association which could represent the sector, giving them a voice and a turn, and making fair the importance already conquered. In 1962, Costa Santos is elected president of Sinaees (Union of the Industry of Electrical and Electronic Appliances and Similar Products of the State of São Paulo). He has hardly taken office when he sees the serious limitations that current legislation, created by Vargas, imposes on union activities, including being subject to intervention by the Ministry of Labor. With this strait jacket it would not be possible to give the electro electronics industry a voice, nor would it be possible to extend it to a national plane, as Sinaees must circumscribe its activities to the State of São Paulo. Conditions were ripe for the opening of a new business entity. On September 26th 1963 67 businessmen and executives solemnly meet at the Maua Palace, the headquarters of Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), located at that time at the Dona Paulina Viaduct near the Praça (Square) João Mendes in the center of São Paulo, and decided to create the Associação Brasileira da Indústria Elétrica e Eletrônica (The Brazilian Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry), Abinee, whose logo, which made it known to the public, was created by professionals connected to Arno. Houve, por parte do governo e de organizações sindicais, a tentativa de abrir às camadas populares, de uma só vez, as portas de acesso aos frutos daquele ainda incipiente processo de crescimento, por meio de aumentos salariais insustentáveis do ponto de vista da realidade econômica. A sociedade brasileira se divide. Assustada com a força da pressão social, a classe média sai às ruas e protesta contra o governo, fornecendo com isso a base política para que os militares decidissem a crise à força, interrompendo por um golpe de estado o governo de Jango. Um novo capítulo se inicia. Líderes decidem criar a Abinee É neste contexto de crise, no olho do furacão político e econômico, que um grupo de empresários do setor eletroeletrônico, sob a liderança de Manoel da Costa Santos, decide criar uma nova associação que pudesse representar o setor, dando-lhe voz e vez, e fazendo jus à importância que já conquistara. Em 1962, Costa Santos é eleito presidente do Sinaees (Sindicato da Indústria de Aparelhos Elétricos, Eletrônicos e Similares do Estado de São Paulo). Mal toma posse, percebe as graves limitações que a legislação vigente, criada por Vargas, impunha às atividades sindicais, sujeitas inclusive à intervenção por parte do Ministério do Trabalho. Com essa camisa de força, não seria possível dar voz à indústria eletroeletrônica, nem estendê-la para o plano nacional, uma vez que o Sinaees deveria, necessariamente, circunscrever suas atividades ao Estado de São Paulo. As condições estavam dadas para a abertura de uma nova entidade empresarial. No dia 26 de setembro de 1963, 67 empresários e executivos reuniram-se solenemente no Palácio Mauá, a sede da Fiesp (Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo) à época, localizado no Viaduto Dona Paulina, junto à Praça João Mendes, no centro de São Paulo, e decidiram criar a Associação Brasileira da Indústria Elétrica e Eletrônica (Abinee), cuja logomarca, que a fez conhecida do público, foi criada por profissionais ligados à Arno.
